Why I love PEM at Brown

I completed my residency at Brown prior to staying for fellowship, and the people in the Brown PEM department have had a formative impact on me as a resident, fellow, and person. I genuinely love coming to work and being around my colleagues. I also love our patient population at Hasbro. We are a Level 1 Trauma Center in a city, but because Rhode Island is spatially small, has many different community structures (rural, suburban, urban), and is surrounded by water (the ocean state!), we have no shortage of unique patient presentations. Finally, our group at Brown has a strong commitment to advocacy and to our local community, and I've been nothing but supported in pursuing this type of work.

Why I love Rhode Island

My family and I are Rhode Island converts. I'm from Massachusetts and my husband is from Buffalo, and we absolutely love living in Rhode Island. This state has been the perfect place to raise our kids. The city of Providence is beautiful, historic and walkable. Nothing is more than a 15-20 minute drive in Rhode Island, whether it is a fantastic beach, state park, or new town to explore. We also have easy access to the New England mountains, which has been great for our family that loves skiing and hiking.
